Our Story

A family tradition since 1920.


Originally founded in 1920 in Amsterdam, New York, Russo’s legacy is as rich as the Italian comfort food that so many generations of both our family and countless customers grew up on. Our story begins in the early 1900s and travels through the most trying times of immigration, prohibition, and financial and natural disasters, and yet, nearly 100 years later, Russo’s is stronger than ever thanks to the support from our loyal customers.

Currently, Russo’s culinary team and management is run by Michael Russo, grandson of the original founder and namesake, Michael Russo. Michael’s passion for cooking arguably stemmed from birth and was cemented during his years of study at the Culinary Institute of America. Simply put, Russo’s represents family. It is the cornerstone of authentic Italian food, a proponent of conversation, and the utmost believer that memories are made around a dinner table.

Russo’s has three convenient locations: Amsterdam, NY (just minutes off Exit 27 on I-90 West), Broadalbin, NY, and our newly-opened third location in Ballston Spa, NY (March 2016).
